Arkham City: Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC available 5/29

In all my years of being a video game fan, I have yet to encounter a game that I was more absorbed into than Batman: Arkham city. Despite beating it on both Normal and Story Plus modes and getting all the extras, I still find myself sitting down everyone once in a while to knock out some Riddler challenges with Batman, Catwoman, Nightwing and Robin. Given all that, I’m absolutely giddy that a new downloadable game will be available on May 29th – Harley Quinn’s Revenge. I can only hope that this little tidbit gives us a glimpse into a possible third Arkham game, but at the very least it will be something to keep fans like me pecking at the game a little longer. The game is due 5/29/12 and will cost $9.99.

Mattel reveals 2012 San Diego Comic Con exclusives

Comic Con is just a couple of short months away, and as a sure sign that it’s on the horizon Mattel has revealed exclusive items that will be offered solely (or at least initially) at this year’s convention in San Diego. On the DC front, we’ll see some Movie Masters figures from The Dark Knight Rises, DCU Tiny Titans, DC Comics Death figure (from Vertigo) and a follow up Polly Pocket set including the villainesses from Gotham City. Other items will be available from Mattel as well from their Masters of the Universe, Ghostbusters and other other lines. Read on for pics and additional details of Mattel’s DC Comics offerings.

DCU Tiny Titans ($20)

They may be miniscule, but they’re mighty! The core team of Tiny Titans is rendered in 1-1/2″ scale in this 5-pack of collectible figures including Robin, Raven, Starfire, Cyborg, and Beast Boy. Sidekick City Elementary is just a quick bus ride away with packaging featuring specially commissioned artwork from Tiny Titans’ series creator. The display base has both the official Tiny Titans logo and a “flight” stand just for Raven.

DC Comics Vertigo™ Death ($25)

Some envision Death as a grim reaper or dark angel to be feared. But as created by Neil Gaiman for DC Comics’ line of Vertigo comics, the Sandman’s older sister is pretty, perky and always gets the job done. She’s been around since the beginning of time and is exactly the kind of girl you’ll want to follow into the unknown. Our 8″ figure of Death wears her trademark ankh necklace and comes with a skull-themed display base.

Gallery Updates – Mattel Batman Legacy Arkham City figures

OK, how about one final update for the day! I’ve been really keen on Mattel’s DC Classic-style versions of the characters from the amazing Batman: Arkham City video game, and finally decided to nab a handful of them over the last week. Unfortunately I appear to have missed out on getting Batman & Two-Face at retail, but for now all the others will have to do! Check out the Batman Legacy section of the Gallery for a few single figures (Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Super Powers Mr. Freeze) and some two packs (Robin & The Joker and both Catwoman & Batman sets).

Gallery Update – Mattel DC Universe Classics Wave 20

As if the lack of updates hasn’t been staggering to begin with, it’s been months since I’ve added a full set of DC Universe Classics to the Gallery. Today, however, I return to the Classics with pics of Wave 20, the Nekron C&C wave. Mattel delivered a solid lineup in what will be the final series of DC Universe Classics – Dove and Hawk from Brightest Day, Red Arrow and an updated Green Arrow, a pair of Flash related figures in White Lantern Flash and Reverse Flash, and finally an updated, taller version of Sinestro in his yellow Sinestro Corp outfit. The Collect & Connect figure is the mammoth 9″ tall Nekron, primary antagonist from the Blackest Night story line. Check out the DC Classics page for wave 20 and all other DC Classics old and new.

Mattel offers another DC line update

Mattel has posted the following on their Mattycollector site, offering some insight into what we might expect in 2012 and 2013.

Right from the very beginning, the Young Justice television series has been one of our favorites, thanks to fresh, new adventures based on classic characters and we’re glad we’ve been able to offer you the Young Justice toy line. Looking ahead, we’ve got some new DC Comics toys in the works that we can’t wait to share!

So now on to 2013… As you read this, we’re busy planning a collector-aimed retail line designed to deliver DC Comics Super Heroes and villains that complement your existing collection. We can’t reveal much at this point, but rest assured, we’ve listened and learned from our past lines, and believe we have a recipe that’ll satisfy your craving for fan-favorite DC Comics characters without overpromising.

For 2012, we’ve got not one, but three new lines, starting with our DC Universe Club Infinite Earths subscription service dedicated to true collector characters you won’t find at retail. The first shipment goes out in May and features an all-new 6” Golden Age The Flash figure. If you missed out on the subscription, a limited quantity will also be available at MattyCollector.com on May 15th at 9am PT.

Then, in late May, head to your local retailer and you’ll find The Dark Knight Rises, a collector-inspired and kid-friendly Batman line based on the sure-to-be-a-hit film. I know, it’s been a *long* time since I’ve done any kind of notable updates to the DC Figure Gallery, but I hope this will be the first of many in the near future! Things have been rough over the last few months, and after some serious personal struggles I’m finally getting back on my feet and getting back into the collecting game. Today’s first update is the fourth wave of Mattel’s Mego-style Retro Action DC Super Heroes. This wave included retro style versions of Black Adam, Darkseid, Martian Manhunter and Shazam. DC Nation announces new family-friendly app

DC Nation has announced a new app to keep fans of all ages up on the latest content from DC Comics.

Burbank, CA, April 24, 2012 – DC Entertainment announced today that it has released a new family-friendly DC Nation app offering instant access to the best in all-ages content from DC Comics. Based on the popular Saturday morning programming block from Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, the free app features thousands of pages of kid-safe content including free, first issues of three of the all-time greatest kids’ comics BATMAN ADVENTURES #1, SUPERMAN ADVENTURES, #1 and the multiple Eisner Award-winning TINY TITANS #1.

The app will also offer several Super Hero Origin mini-comics and the first six installments of the ever-expanding DC Nation Secret Files, an encyclopedia of the coolest characters from DC Comics. A monthly DC Nation “mini-mag” will highlight the latest happenings with the Cartoon Network TV programming block. In addition to the wide-range of free comics in the app, more than 100 all-ages DC Comics titles will be available for purchase at $.99 each, with more titles added every week.

On the heels of the app launch, DC Entertainment will also release a new DC Nation Super Spectacular magazine in May. The 64-page magazine will be on newsstands and in comic book shops for $4.99 throughout the summer, offering kids a collection of new comics based on popular DC Nation shows including Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The magazine will also include exclusive versions of content that extends from the DC Nation app programming, including special versions of DC Nation Secret Files and a DC Nation Sneak Peek. The magazine is sponsored by LEGO® Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes, an upcoming game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment,.and will include an exclusive game code for its readers.

“DC Nation has already proven to be an extremely popular kids’ franchise,” stated Hank Kanalz, senior vice president of digital, DC Entertainment. “The new app and magazine will extend DC Nation’s reach while also delivering fresh content to core fans of the TV programming block.”
