The latest release in DC Direct’s Women of the DC Universe bust collection is the “lovely” Supergirl, breaking through chains and ready to kick some arse. Supergirl measures 5.5″ tall and is limited to 3,500 pieces. Here’s the thing. I love Amanda Conner’s work and style. Absolutely love it. Jack Mathews has done some of DC Direct’s best sculpting (look at any of the Cover Girls of the DCU statues for proof). And Supergirl…well, she’s always been a favorite of mine. But I can say without reservation that this statue is the worst of the 30+ busts released for the WOTDCU line so far. Amanda Conner’s artwork is almost literally exploding with Supergirl’s power, but the final sculpt looks like an anorexic wearing a Farrah Fawcett wig. Sorry DC Direct…but this is one of the most disappointing purchases in recent memory.
I have added the latest addition to DC Direct’s Blackest Night bust line to the gallery. Indigo-1 is the ninth of 12 busts from the Blackest Night sub-series of the Heroes of the DC Universe minibust line. The bust measures 5 3/4″ tall and was limited to 3,500 pieces.
The first of three updates tonight (the first that I’ve been able to do in a while!) is Hawkgirl. Hawkgirl comes from the Adam Hughes-designed Cover Girls of the DC Universe line. She measures roughly 9 1/2″ tall and was limited to 5,000 pieces. The statue comes in three pieces – the body, mace and stand.
One small but cool update to the Gallery today – I’ve added pics of the new Wonder Woman #600 statue. The title is somewhat of a misnomer, as it’s actually based on the variant cover of Wonder Woman #601. This statue turned out really nice and fits in very well with the Cover Girls of the DC Universe statues. Follow the link to check out a full image gallery.

As has been the case way too often lately, I’ve had little time to do any major updates. Despite this, I’ve added a few items to the Gallery today that I think you’ll enjoy. First up is the Wonder Woman Bishoujo, the third Bishoujo released in Koto’s amazing line. To show a little more on the Anime side of things, I’ve uploaded pics of Ame-Comi Mini Series 2 – Cheetah, Donna Troy and Wonder Woman. And finally, after a six-month wait we finally saw the release of Amanda Conner’s Women of the DC Universe Star Sapphire minibust. Enjoy!
I’ve had little time for reviews these days, but at the very least I thought it was time to get a couple of new items into the Gallery. Today’s update includes two recently released items. First up is Violet Lantern Star Sapphire from the Heroes of the DC Universe: Blackest Night minibust line. Not the finest looking bust in the DC catalog, but a cool edition to the Blackest Night line none the less. The statue I’m really psyched about, though, is the Lee Bermejo-designed Joker from the Batman Black & White line. This cool 7″ piece features Bermejo’s grotesque rendition of the Joker and is one of the best statues released for this line. So, click the links or the thumbnails and enjoy the images!
