Hot Toys announces Batman: The Dark Knight Rises collectibles

As expected (and anticipated!), Hot Toys has announced that they will be producing collectibles from next summer’s The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in the Nolan Batman trilogy. While 1:6 figures were expected, Hot Toys has also added that 1:4 figures are in the pipeline! Excellent news from an excellent company, and I personally can’t wait to see what they have to offer.

Hot Toys reveals Christopher Reeve Superman packaging

Hot Toys never fails to impress with their figures, and as is evident by their recently-revealed movie Superman packaging they continue to raise the bar for figure packaging as well. The Christopher Reeve Superman will come in a large “S-shield” packaging that looks to make a nice companion display piece with the figure itself. Click the thumbnail for a larger image.

Eaglemoss presents DC Chess Figures

You may have heard that DC has put an end to the DC Super Hero Collection Magazine line, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely done with DC Comics. Released a few pieces at a time, the Chess figures will make up all the necessary pieces for a good ol’ fashioned game of the black and white, and will cost you around $15 a piece. As of now, Batman (white king), Robin (white bishop), Joker (black king) and Commissioner Gordon (white pawn) have been announced.

UPDATE: I just noticed on the Eaglemoss site that the entire line has been announced. Head over to the Eaglemoss DC Chess pieces page for the full list!

Three new DC Direct statues for May 2012

DC Direct has announced a trio of statues coming in May of 2012. I like the direction they’re heading with the Green Lantern Animated series, but their other two announcements – a Sam Kieth B&W Batman and a repainted Jim Lee Superman – leave me yawning. I’ve never liked Sam Kieth’s work, and do we really need another mini repaint? Anyhoo…read on for the full details.

Coming Soon page updated – new shipping dates

After a couple of months of neglect, I’ve finally done a massive updated to the Coming Soon page. In addition to adding most DC products on the horizon that I’m aware of, I’ve also updated a couple of recently-changed shipping dates. Those of you with the Batman: Year One DVD Maquette, Ame-Comi Mini Series 3 and Ultimate Showdown: Batman Vs. The Joker statue on order will have to wait a bit longer – they’ve all been pushed back to 10/19/11.
